David S. Ryan, CMFC®
President | Financial Planner | Entrepreneur
In my role, my main focus is to make the process as straightforward and cost-effective as possible for my clients. I collaborate with affiliated attorneys to create comprehensive estate profiles and designs, and then help my clients select fiduciaries like successor trustees or POAs. I also make sure that drafted trusts are delivered smoothly and work with clients to develop personalized financial plans. I always look for potential obstacles that could disrupt a financial plan and do my best to eliminate them. In addition to my advisory role, I am also a business owner and understand the specific needs of other business owners. I am happy to offer 401(k) plans and other retirement options that may be more suitable.
I was inspired by my family's experience running a grocery store growing up and was taught from an early age to look at the business world with an entrepreneurial mindset of being willing to challenge the status quo and relentlessly and passionately pursue that which I am inspired by. I decided to study financial planning at the University of Missouri – Columbia in the spirit of this entrepreneurial mindset. Through this program, I gained a strong understanding of the field and became committed to being an educator and transparent guide for my clients. I ensure they fully understand the products and services they are using and why they are appropriate for their needs. I also value being a consumer advocate and believe in providing all relevant information to clients.
My wife, Elizabeth, is the owner of DeSoto Veterinary Hospital, and together, we have three children: Christian, Alex, and Anneliese. My family plays a major role in my career because I am constantly learning about leadership and the unique dynamics of a self-employed, self-reliant family. I enjoy helping my family think creatively, and I apply those skills to the advice I offer clients, which often involves helping them understand concepts through a structured thought process.
I am an active member of the Knights of Columbus #1185 in DeSoto, Missouri, and also participate in a peer-led workout group F3. I take part in leading F3 workouts, which take place outdoors rain or shine, and are open to all men, at an area of operation at the DeSoto High School appropriately named the DeSoto Fountainhead after the traits of our town. The group has recently gained notoriety in the St. Louis archdiocese magazine. F3 is a large organization with multiple operating areas in the greater St. Louis area as well as the nation. I am dedicated to staying active and involved in this community and will look to add to our family real estate business to build and rebuild on the tradition and beautiful traits of our town and a future we can all be proud of.
